The Open Frontier Creative District offers a unique combination of visual and performing arts combined with cultural and architectural historical significance, connections to frontier history and the Native American culture and how it was impacted by contact with Europeans.

Chadron’s location in frontier country, with its intersection of the cultures of Native American and homesteaders and pioneers, along with the geology of the surrounding scenic region add to its uniqueness. The pioneer spirit continues today in the region’s agricultural economy in an idyllic setting with scenery that is unexpected for many visitors to (and even residents of) Nebraska. Add in the contributions of Chadron State College, the downtown historical district and several unique creative businesses, the district showcases a historically rich and under-discovered area with additional untapped potential.
