Trailside Museum CoordinatorÂ
This part-time position facilitates the daily operations of the Trailside Museum of Natural History, located at Fort Robinson in Crawford, NE. Responsibilities include managing museum admission, arranging group/school visits, and ensuring the site is well maintained (clean, presentable, etc.). The museum coordinator manages, hires, trains, and schedules staff to operate the admissions desk and gift shop. The position will also be responsible for managing inventory and other related activities such as, sourcing and ordering merchandise, sales/promotions, cash management, PCIÂ compliance, processing deposits, and providing customer service. This position will be responsible for assisting in the development of the Trailside budget, as well as planning and tracking expenditure. As one of the most public faces of the museum, it is essential that the person in this role has strong communication and customer service skills. The Trailside Museum Coordinator should be well-organized and be able to build and maintain strong relationships with visitors, members, partner organizations, faculty, and staff. Weekend hours required.

Minimum Qualifications: High school or equivalent experience and 2 years experience delivering customer service in a face to face environment, assessing inventory in a retail settings; making recommendations for retail improvements and inventory management; cash handling; point of sale usage, including the creation of reports; training and overseeing staff; equivalent education/ experience considered. Competency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and database entry/management. Knowledge of best practices for customer service and demonstrated experience working with diverse populations. Excellent interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred. Supervisory experience: recruiting, training, and managing staff, including students. Experience in merchandising in a retail environment. Experience organizing public events or activities. Writing policies, procedures, and/or training manuals or other resource materials. Management experience working within a non-profit setting. Knowledge of museum trends and ability to manage a museum, science center, zoo or aquarium environment (or similar non-profit institution). Knowledge of retail operations in a museum/non-profit.
