The Museum of the Fur Trade and the Dawes County Historical Museum will be open during regular hours.  Several groups from Chadron High School and Chadron Prep will be holding reunions.

The museum presents the Fur Trade Flag Ceremony, describing the countries and companies that have been involved in the North American fur trade. They also always have an entry in the parade on Saturday morning.

 

The World Championship Buffalo Chip Throw will take place at 1 pm on Saturday, July 14, 2018 on the lawn of the Dawes County Courthouse. Join us for one of the most exciting activities during Chadron Fur Trade Days. Saturday, directly following the parade, our annual Buffalo Burger BBQ, hosted by The Chadron Chamber Ambassadors, will coincide with the Championship Buffalo Chip Throw! Grab a burger in one hand and a piece of poo in  the other and get your throwing arm ready for the challenging  and competitive Buffalo Chip Throw!

Parade begins at 10 am at 10th street and will process down main street to 1st street. Pull up a seat along the route and enjoy the floats and other entries. 

 

 

 

The Bordeaux Creek Fur Trade and Muzzleloading Association’s Rendezvous is located 3.5 miles east and 8 miles south of Chadron. Each year there are numerous activities that take place at the camp. Stay tuned for more details about the upcoming 2018 Rendezvous. Check out the fur, handicrafts, bead work and other period items offered for sale by traders.

 

 

The Chadron Fur Trade Days Traders’ Market has merchants from around the area and across the country, featuring something for everyone. The 41st annual attraction has been updated and is bringing new merchants as well as familiar favorites!

 

The Chadron Public Library, the Chadron Public Library Foundation, and Friends of the Library, will present a film festival acknowledging the contributions of the Lakota people to the history of Northwest Nebraska and highlighting contemporary Native issues through film. In addition to the films this year, there will be displays and demonstrations by Native American artists and musicians.

The Annual Regatta (Canoe/Paddle Boat Races) will take place at 3 pm on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the pond in Chadron State park. The event is sponsored by Chadron Kiwanis. Whether you’re a salty dog or just a budding seaman, test your maritime racing skills in the Fur Trade Regatta. The event challenges teams of two, to race canoes at the park’s pond. Awards await winners of the convivial race, which is open to canoers of all skill levels ages 12 and up. Open to racers and landlubbers free of charge (Donations accepted). Free paddleboat rides will follow the race. Nebraska State Park Entry Permit required for vehicles.
